EMC-BOK™

The Engineering Management Certification Body of Knowledge (EMC-BOK™)

Panels of practicing engineering managers, from industry, government and academia, have been assembled during 2003-2004 to develop the body of knowledge on the best practices of engineering management. The knowledge and skills in the body of knowledge have also been reviewed and prioritized by the rank-and-file engineering managers of all disciplines in terms of importance and frequency of use in their practices. The process resulted in the current body of knowledge of engineering management certification, abbreviated as EMC-BOK.

EMC-BOK consists of eight general domains, with 49 knowledge areas and 170 sub-knowledge areas.  The domains and knowledge areas are shown in the following table.
