Types of Exams EMCI programs are based on uniform, globally administered examinations that evaluate an engineer’s knowledge and skills in planning, organizing and directing technological activities and resource allocation. These examinations are three hours in length and composed of 150 questions derived from major engineering management subject areas comprising the Engineering Management Certification-Body of Knowledge, or EMC-BOK™ (see below). There are currently two exam programs available through EMCI:
Each program tests engineers’ knowledge and skills based on 8 subject domains found in the EMC-BOK™.
EMCI examinations are delivered through a computer-based format online at Prometric test centers worldwide. In certain countries and regions, a paper and pencil format is offered until online testing becomes available.
